Network on Future Advanced Light Sources (FALS)
The Network on Future Advanced Light Sources is motivated by the rapid progress in the developments of table-top lasers towards shorter wavelengths and accelerator-based sources with full coherence. The goal of this network proposal is to facilitate the mergence of two existing, large and inter- multidisciplinary research communities, namely those based on lasers mainly working in the infrared/visible regimes and those based on synchrotron radiation covering a large spectral region from the infrared to hard X-rays but with incoherent radiation. Funds are requested for three workshops and one coordination meeting. The workshops are intended to cross-fertilize ideas both in terms of research applications and technology developments between the traditional laser and synchrotron radiation communities.
